Institut für Werkstoffwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnologie
> Zum Inhalt

The Institute for Materials Science and Technology pursues and accelerates research activities in the field of polymers, ceramics and metallic alloys in basic materials and surface-based technologies. The research activities of the institute includes the processing of these materials, as well as the analysis of their impact on the environment and society and their sustainability in the circular economy and environmental compatibility. The activities of our institute are focused on current topics from the economy and society, and the transfer of our knowledge to the students of our discipline in order to convey awareness and knowledge for the profitable application of engineering-scientific knowledge for the further development of our society.

In addition to the numerous research activities supported by national (FWF, FFG, ...) and international research funding agencies (Horizon 2020, ...), three Christian Doppler laboratories are currently installed at the institute:

Christian Doppler Laboratory for Surface Engineering of high-performance Components

Christian Doppler Laboratory Interfaces & Precipitation Engineering

Christian Doppler Laboratory for Advanced Polymers for Biomaterials and 3D Printing (Modul 2)
