Metallische Konstruktions- und Verbundwerkstoffe

Die Arbeitsgruppe „Metallische Konstruktions- und Verbundwerkstoffe“ beschäftig sich mit der Bestimmung der Wechselwirkung zwischen Architektur und thermomechanischen Eigenschaften von heterogenen Konstruktionswerkstoffen die zur Modellbildung/Entwicklung innovativer Werkstoffe beitragen. Klassische und moderne zwei-dimensionale Gefügecharakterisierungsmethode wie Lichtmikroskopie, SEM und EBSD werden mit modernen drei-dimensionale Abbildung von Werkstoffen mittels, u.a., Röntgen- und Synchrotron-Tomografie kombiniert um die Struktur der untersuchten Werkstoffe quantitativ zu beschreiben. Der innere Aufbau der Materialien und dessen Veränderungen im Fertigungsprozess und bei unterschiedlichen mechanischen und thermo-mechanischen Belastungen werden analysiert und mit der Verarbeitbarkeit, den Gebrauchseigenschaften und den Schädigungsmechanismen korreliert. Die ermittelten Erkenntnisse sind vor allem in der Werkstoffindustrie, beim Bau von Maschinen und Transportmitteln von Interesse.
